St. Patrick's Choral Society in collaboration with the Declan McMullan Fund are delighted to bring you the Irish Amateur Premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard.

Winner of 7 TONY Awards including Best Musical, this lush and sweeping tale of Hollywood’s darker side features one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s best scores, including the hit songs ‘With One Look’, ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’, the title number 'Sunset Boulevard' and the number one hit ‘The Perfect Year.’

Sunset Boulevard, based on Billy Wilder's Academy Award-winning 1950 film, weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition. Silent movie star Norma Desmond longs for a return to the big screen, having been discarded by tinsel town with the advent of ‘talkies’. Having escaped from repossession agents finds Joe Gillis at Norma’s faded, dilapidated mansion. “You used to be in pictures – you used to be big?” Joe asks, to which Norma responds, “I am big… it’s the pictures that got small!”. Their subsequent romance, passionate and volatile relationship leads to an unforeseen and tragic conclusion.
