About the Event
South Eastern Theatre Group, the company that brought you the stunning sold-out productions of Miss Saigon, The Phantom of The Opera and more recently Les Miserables make a welcome return to the Theatre Royal with their most ambitious musical project to-date.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s STARLIGHT EXPRESS is a magical story of trains, speed and song. In a little boy’s dream, his toy trains come to life for a spectacular race across America. The competition between steam, electric, and diesel engines is fast and fierce with entries from across the world. In the end, the underdog Rusty the Steam train, a small steam engine with a heart of gold defeats all his rivals and wins the race and with it the hand of the lovely first class coach, Pearl.
STARLIGHT EXPRESS made history by becoming one of the longest-running West End shows after it opened in 1984. It has a vibrant rock score containing numbers such as Rolling Stock, AC/DC, There’s a Light at the end of the Tunnel, and the eponymous Starlight Express. But the show made its name for its fast pace, amazing visuals and innovative staging, which has to be seen to be believed.
Rarely performed, this is a show with memorable music, costumes and staging. It will feature a large company, directed this year by David Hennessy, with choreography by Michelle Condon, musical direction by David Hayes and with Brian Collins as producer. Given the commitment, energy and passion that this company has become renowned for, do not miss this Waterford première. Get your skates on and book now!
STARLIGHT EXPRESS is sure to be a huge hit with all the family and is not to be missed.
Early booking is strongly recommended for this production.
PLEASE NOTE THE 7:30pm START TIME!
