About the Event

We are delighted to announce that our 50th anniversary production will be the dazzling Irish Amateur Premiere, TOP HAT the musical.

TOP HAT brings the glamour of Hollywood’s golden age and the glorious tap-dancing magic of Fred Astaire’s and Ginger Rogers’ world-famous dance partnership to the stage.

This 2011 musical based on the 1935 film, tells the story of Broadway sensation Jerry Travers who dances his way across Europe to win the heart of society girl Dale Tremont. An uplifting and entertaining romantic comedy celebrating 1930's song, style and romance, TOP HAT features music by Irving Berlin. These include some of his greatest hits such as ‘Cheek to Cheek’, ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’ and ‘Let’s Face the Music & Dance’. Described by critics as a “dazzling toe tapping romantic cocktail of wonderful songs, fabulous dance numbers and a musical that only comes around once in a lifetime. We are very excited to bring this show to life in St. Michael's Theatre from 6th to 11th March 2018.

Our 50th anniversary production team remains the same as last year; Director - Derek Shannon, Musical Director - Philip Kennedy, Choreographer - Anne-Marie Cooney and Production Manager - Paul Malone.
