About the Event
Come From Away
In the aftermath of the tragic events of September 11th 2001, when the US airspace was closed and planes were forced to land unexpectedly, the tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland suddenly found 7,000 strangers on its doorstep. 7,000 passengers who were scared, exhausted, and very far from home.
What happened next was a profound act of humanity. The people of Gander didn’t hesitate. They cooked meals, opened their homes, found beds, cared for pets, and wrapped thousands of frightened travellers in warmth and humour. In the middle of global chaos, this little community showed the world what true compassion looks like.
This show captures all of it. The laughter, the fear, the friendships, the music, and the unbelievable humanity of ordinary people doing something extraordinary. It’s a story about hope. About community. About choosing kindness when it matters most. And it’s one that stays with you long after the last note fades.
