About the Event

Composed by Frank Wildhorn and written by Nan Knighton the musical had its premier on Bradway in October 1997 and had sell out performances. It is now touring provinical America and the world.

Part intrigue, part love storey, part swashbuckling action The Scarlet Pimpernel is set on the streets of Paris during the French Revoloution. Hundreds of aristocrats were sent to guillotine by Robspierre and Sir Percey Blackeney/The Pimpernel and his loyal band of Bounders come to their rescue. He falls in love with Marguerite St. Just and marries her. He later find out that she betrayed one of his best friends the Marquis de St. Cryr who was executed. Their marriage grows cold and he returns to France to save as many from the Guillotine as he can.Chauveline his arch enemy is sent by Robspierre to find out the identity of the Pimpernel and to return him to Paris to be executed.Chauvelin confronts the Scarlet Pimpernel , Sir Percy, in a duel. Marguerite steps in several times to hilp Percy but Shauvelin still wins. Percy is immediately sentence to the guillotine. However he outwits Chauvelin on last time. Percy, Marguerite and Armand her brother escape to England after tying Chauvelin up and "revealing" him to be the Pimpernel. Marguerite and Percy confide in eash other the true love that they have always had. There is no shortage of mystery, intrigue and comedy in this melodious production with huge chorus numbers such as Madam Guillotine "Believe, "Into the Fire" and the haunting solo "When I look at you" sung by Marguerite.
