About the Event
2012/2013 marks Kilkenny Musical Society’s 40th Birthday. To celebrate the anniversary the Society has assembled a stellar cast of performers to front a 40 strong chorus in bringing a flavour of the musical numbers that have enthralled Kilkenny audiences since 1973. “The Ruby Revue” will take place at the Watergate Theatre for two nights only on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th October. Among the performers will be Olivia Smith, Brendan Corcoran, Donal O’Brien, Pat Ryan, Michael Hayes, John Byrne, Niamh Dooley, Stephen Murphy, Tony Murray, Kevin Reade, Kevina Hayes, Declan Taylor, Nicola Brennan, Audrey Larkin, Amy Mc Lean and Ursula Egan.
The Concert will open with a medley from the Western Musicals including Oklahoma, Calamity Jane and Annie Get Your Gun. This will be followed by a selection from the ever popular Rodgers & Hammerstein shows South Pacific, Carousel and The King & I. Olivia Smith and Kevin Reade and their Jesters Class will perform some of the popular children’s classics such as The Sound of Music and Oliver.
In particular this concert will feature some favourites from some of the older musicals such as The Student Prince, Showboat, The Mikado and the Pirates of Penzance. And the highlight of the night is likely to be an extract from all time favourite “My Fair Lady” with Olivia Smith, Donal O Brien and Brendan Corcoran.
Never before has such an array of talent performed on the one stage on the one night. This is a concert which is sure to book out. Tickets will cost €15 and group bookings/concession will cost €10 only. Contact Watergate Box Office at 056/7761674
